Everybody wants to travel. Everybody wants to explore the world, discover new places, meet new friends, and experience a culture that’s different or similar to theirs. The bottom line is that travelling will open new doors and opportunities to go outside the comforts of our bubble.
Whether you’re single, in a relationship, straight or otherwise, the essence of travelling should start from a firm decision to take a breather. While others are paid to travel and see the world, those who really want to explore are those who work. These are the people who only wish to visit places that they see in magazines, movies, from daydreams and imaginations. This however is easier said than done.
MONEY
This is probably one of the main reasons why people are afraid to take timeout from their busy schedules. Travel will entail money, there’s no doubt about that, but so does everything else. No matter where you look, you will most likely spend a certain amount of your hard-earned money. Why not, then, invest on something that will have lasting effects and long-term benefits?
Money will come and go. It can and will be replenished for as long as you are working. Your dream to travel on the other hand will go down the drain if you don’t do something. Take sailing for example: imagining yourself immersed in the calm seas of the Ionian or the Cyclades will never come true if you don’t do something. Yes, renting a yacht, paying all the necessities will mean money, but it is something that you must do if you want to get something done.
RESPONSIBILITIES
People with a tad more responsibilities are most likely to take vacations. Of course, there’s no denying that these will come first, up to the point that they will do it on top of everything, even if it means taking themselves for granted.
Our priorities make us work; they make us strive for more and for greatness. But this doesn’t mean that you need to pour all time, even if it means sacrificing weekends and holidays just to make ends meet. Sooner or later, our bodies will feel the toll of not resting. We may not feel the symptoms right on the spot, but eventually, we will. And when that time comes, it might be too late.
TIME
We’ve all heard the saying that time is a luxury we don’t have. This may be true at a certain stretch, but this must not be applied on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, time is a luxury even to the busiest man. It’s just a matter of putting things in order.
Again, traveling, particularly sailing will require time. Cruises will take weeks to enjoy. Med Sailing Holidays, for instance, offers a seven-day, seven-night holiday in Greece or Croatia. A week might sound like an eternity to the average worker, but once the cruise starts, it will feel like days are just minutes passing by.
It will take effort and a lot of iron will to convince ourselves to forget about work and focus on certain life aspects that will soon be a vital imprint in our lives. Sailing and other forms of travel is just one of the many ways to reward our body and senses. Consider it as a refresh button that you so badly want to press, but lacks the courage to do so.
